I had breast augmentation and lipo performed by Dr. P. He and his staff were fantastic from start to finish. I got great results and plan to do another procedure only with him...He really listened to what I wanted and did exactly that.

Providing Patients with Compassionate Care

Nipple Reconstruction Connecticut

Patients who undergo a mastectomy do so at a high cost. As significant portions of the breast – and in some cases the entire breast – are removed, many women feel that a substantial part of their femininity is taken away. Fortunately, Dr. David Passaretti can reconstruct one or both breasts using the patient's own tissue during reconstructive breast surgery. But, because reconstructed breasts are created from tissue, muscle, and fat from other areas of the body, nipple reconstruction must take place postoperatively. At our Fairfield County, Connecticut practice, our breast reconstruction surgeon can perform nipple reconstruction as the finishing touch in the creation of new, natural-looking breasts.

The Nipple Reconstruction Procedure

As the final stage of reconstructive breast surgery, nipple reconstruction is performed one to three months postoperatively. Dr. Passaretti will strive to create a nipple that complements the appearance of the reconstructed breast, both in terms of size and projection. The nipple mound is created with a local tissue flap, and the areola is formed from a skin flap taken from the lower abdomen. After undergoing the procedure at our Connecticut practice, nipple reconstruction patients can expect initial healing to take approximately two weeks.

After the reconstructed nipple has healed, patients can come back to our office to undergo areola tattooing. Performed by our specially trained technician, areola tattooing can precisely match the new nipple with the pigmentation of the nipple on the natural breast. If both breasts were removed during mastectomy, our tattoo technician can refer to pictures of the original nipple or find a color that complements the color of the breasts created during breast reconstruction.

Connecticut surgeon David Passaretti understands that nipple reconstruction is more than just a surgical procedure. He recognizes that this surgery simultaneously represents the end of the patient's journey toward restoring her appearance and life following mastectomy and the beginning of a new life with a reclaimed sense of femininity and completeness.
