Choosing a Treatment Option
Dr. Passaretti offers several treatments for both active acne and acne scarring.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a conservative method for treating acne scars on the outer layers of your skin. During the appointment, Dr. Passaretti will gently exfoliate your skin with a handheld device to remove the outermost, dead layer to rejuvenate the skin and reduce the appearance of blemishes.
Chemical Peels
Although a minimally invasive method, a chemical peel is a more intense treatment that reduces the appearance of acne and scars in deeper layers of the skin. Dr. Passaretti uses chemical compounds such as trichloroacetic acid or phenol to penetrate the skin and remove damaged cells. For a less invasive alternative, we also offer glycolic peels.
IPL™ Photofacial
An IPL Photofacial can treat moderate acne scars by promoting the production of new skin through exposure to special lasers. The procedure takes approximately 30 minutes and can help you achieve excellent results in the weeks following treatment.
Laser and Light-Based Therapies
If you have acne scarring, Dr. Passaretti can use focused light energy to gently remove the outermost layers of skin that contain damaged cells and scars from acne. Because this treatment also promotes new skin growth, you should see a dramatic improvement in your skin as the days go by.
As a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Passaretti combines advanced technology and a focus on cosmetic enhancement to provide safe and effective acne treatment. For the most effective outcome, we recommend multiple sessions of treatment. Most patients are able to enjoy clearer skin with minimal side effects and permanent results. However because this treatment can increase the chance of infection in some cases, it may not be appropriate for patients with active chronic acne.
