We often see patients who want a minimally invasive surgical option to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and sagging in the mid face. A mini facelift performed at our Darien practice focuses on this specific area of the face to tighten up underlying musculature and remove excess skin. A mini facelift can usually be performed laparoscopically, resulting in a significantly reduced recovery time and minimal scarring.
Dr. David Passaretti performs a comprehensive range of cosmetic procedures and he makes his patients' comfort and safety his top priorities. Traditional vs. Mini Facelifts
Determining which type of facelift is appropriate for you will largely depend on your aesthetic goals and the size of the treatment area.
Dr. Passaretti believes that in most cases, a full facelift is the best option for patients who want to take years off of their appearance. The mini facelift procedure is better suited to younger patients who would like to address signs of aging in the middle portion of the face, or for those who would like touch-up work done at a later date after a full facelift.
A mini face lift focuses on specific areas of the face and is appropriate for patients who want conservative, natural-looking results.
Differences in Surgical Techniques
There are some important differences in what you can expect during a traditional or mini facelift surgery.
A traditional full facelift involves larger incisions that are hidden beneath the hairline, spanning from the temples behind the ears. This allows Dr. Passaretti to address nearly all areas of the face during the procedure. For instance, if you are concerned with the appearance of your neck, Dr. Passaretti will likely recommend a full facelift over a mini facelift. In contrast, a mini facelift concentrates on a more specific area of the face, generally around the cheeks and eyes.
During a mini facelift, a series of small incisions will be made behind the ears and beneath the hairline. Dr. Passaretti can often perform enhancements laparoscopically, meaning he will insert a tiny surgical camera through the incisions to guide his movements during the procedure.
During a full facelift surgery, Dr. Passaretti will tighten up the underlying tissue throughout the face, remove any excess skin, and smooth fat deposits to provide you with more defined, youthful features. Similar to a full facelift, during a mini facelift, Dr. Passaretti will gently tighten, reposition, and remove any excess tissue to achieve striking, yet natural-looking results.
Unlike a full facelift, which is typically performed using general anesthesia, many mini facelift patients will only require local anesthetic and sedation.
