Restore and Rejuvenate!

Your face is your calling card and billboard for all the world to see. We all want healthy, vibrant facial skin that others find welcoming.

But the universe pushes back in ways that erode that youthful radiance. Time to take back control! Now there’s an innovative technology and procedure that uses your body’s own natural healing processes to help halt, limit and reverse those frustrating “age badges,” our Fairfield County RF Microneedling.

What is Microneedling?

At the Aethetic Center in Fairfield County microneedling is a procedure that resurfaces your skin. It is a minimally invasive treatment that stimulates your lower layers of skin to produce additional foundational healing substances such as collagen and elastin, resulting in more youthful-looking, tighter skin.

What is RF Microneedling?

RF Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure that uses a special device that delivers fractional radio frequency (RF) energy to all layers of your skin. RF Microneedling treatments are safe, effective, convenient, versatile, and require no downtime.

How does it work?

It may sound counterintuitive, but before your skin can heal, it first has to have at least a slight injury to heal from. RF Microneedling uses radiofrequency and tiny needles to create millions of channels in your skin. The radio waves released by the device contribute to the damage caused, which enhances the healing effects overall.

As a result, your healing processes go into overdrive, giving rise to new, rejuvenated, and replenished skin cells. Treatment can be further enhanced by allowing nutrients and fillers such as hyaluronic acid (HA) or PRP (platelet-rich plasma) to seep deeply into the microscopic channels created by the microneedling device. This results in thicker, more elastic, and plumper facial skin.

Our State-of-the-art RF Microneedling Device

Hands down, the device our team uses exclusively, the Cynosure Potenza®, is the new gold standard in microneedling. The Cynosure Potenza’s versatility allows us to customize treatments just for you, regardless of your skin type. We can treat virtually all parts of your body rather than just your face.

The CP device uses four different RF modes to provide both shallow and deep skin treatments in one system. Its Fusion Tip and Tiger Tip technology insulate the micro-needles to treat more tissue at multiple layers.

What are the benefits of RF Microneedling?

In addition to promoting elastin and collagen production, RF Microneedling has many benefits, including:

  • Improvement in fine lines and wrinkles
  • Improvement in scarring due to acne or injury
  • Tighter and smoother skin
  • Reduced pore size
  • Improvement in “crepey” skin
  • Improvement in sun damaged skin
  • Stretch mark reduction
  • Stimulates collagen production
  • Improvement in dark spots or patches on your skin

Are you a candidate for RF Microneedling?

If you are in good general health, you are! Microneedling can treat all skin types. However, you may be a particularly good candidate if you have skin issues that have not responded to other types of treatment. Microneedling is not recommended for patients who are pregnant or have chronic skin conditions such as psoriasis or eczema. In addition, if you have recently had radiation therapy, you will be disqualified.

Your RF Microneedling Treatment

Microneedling is an outpatient procedure typically performed in your provider’s office. After applying a numbing cream to your face, your provider will use the Cynosure Potenza® RF Microneedling device on your treatment areas, creating tiny knicks in targeted locations. Including prep time, the entire procedure takes less than two hours, with the RF Microneedling application itself lasting less than 40 minutes.

Aftercare and Maintenance

Most people require no downtime. However, you may experience some slight bleeding from the needles’ tiny cuts, and you will likely have some slight irritation and redness for a few days. Since your skin will be more sensitive, diligent daily use of a high-SPF sunscreen is necessary. Remember that the use of tobacco and excessive alcohol consumption can reduce the results of your RF Microneedling.

Results

Most patients need 3-6 treatments to maximize results. Treatment sessions should be separated by at least a month. While it will likely take 90 days after your last treatment to max out your benefits, you should start to notice significant improvement after your second session.

RF Microneedling FAQs

Most patients say they feel only slight nicks. And, remember, a numbing agent will be applied to your skin prior to your treatment, so any sensation will already be dulled.

While RF Microneedling is considered an exceptionally safe procedure, all such treatments come with risks, including infection, bleeding, bruising, and allergic reaction to materials used in your treatment.

No. The longevity of results will vary from patient to patient. Benefits are generally long-lasting, but follow-up treatments are recommended every 12-18 months after your initial course of treatments.

Yes, because RF Microneedling treats all layers of your skin and can effectively treat all skin types. Also, the radiofrequency emitted by the device adds to the healing process and, therefore, your results.

Your RF Microneedling treatment costs will depend on the size and number of your treatment areas and the number of treatments you undergo. Since RF Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure, your insurance will not cover the costs. Discuss costs with your provider before your treatment.
