Many patients considering a neck lift procedure have questions regarding candidacy, surgery, recovery, and areas addressed. Dr. David Passaretti values patient education, which is why he provides comprehensive consultations at our Darien, CT, practice. To ensure his patients feel comfortable and confident our services, he can review their unique goals, evaluate their medical history, and answer neck lift FAQs before determining treatment options. What Concerns Can a Neck Lift Address?
A neck lift can address sagging skin, excess fat deposits, and muscle banding. During this procedure, Dr. Passaretti can also remove jowls and drooping skin below the chin, often referred to as a double chin.
Am I a Candidate?
If you are unhappy with the appearance of your neck and desire a firmer, more youthful appearance, a neck lift may be right for you. In addition to your aesthetic goals, our team will also take into account your overall health. To qualify for surgery, you should have a strong immune system, without any skin conditions or bleeding disorders.

Am I the Right Age?
As treatment is primarily designed to reverse visible signs of aging, Dr. Passaretti most frequently performs neck lifts on patients between the ages of 30 and 70. However, in some cases, surgery may be appropriate for older or younger individuals.
What is the Difference between a Neck Lift and Liposuction?
Dr. Passaretti can also use minimally invasive liposuction to eliminate stubborn fat deposits. However, liposuction cannot reduce sagging skin or muscle banding. As such, if you are seeking more comprehensive results, a neck lift is likely more appropriate.
Where Will My Neck Lift Be Performed?
We can perform your neck lift surgery in our private operating facility in Darien. Our center is equipped with the latest technology, and our long-term staff adheres to the strictest safety protocol. As such, we can ensure you receive the highest quality care from start to finish.
What Happens During Surgery?
During your neck lift, Dr. Passaretti can create two incisions behind your ears. Through these openings, he can tighten drooping muscles, remove excess fat cells, and trim away sagging skin. He may also create a small incision under your chin, particularly if you wish to address muscle banding. In many cases, Dr. Passaretti can combine liposuction with more traditional neck lift techniques. Once complete, he can close the incisions.
How Long Will Surgery Take?
Typically, neck lift surgery takes a few hours. The exact length of your procedure will depend upon your unique goals, the extent of your surgery, and the specific techniques used.
What Should I Expect During Recovery?
For several days after your neck lift, you may experience some swelling and discomfort. During this time, you should get plenty of rest and wear a compression bandage. Dr. Passaretti can prescribe medication to reduce any swelling or discomfort. In most cases, you can resume work in seven to 14 days and moderate exercise within a few weeks. You should avoid contact sports for at least six weeks. Dr. Passaretti can provide personalized guidelines detailing when you can return to your normal routine. He can also provide at-home instructions to minimize your discomfort and accelerate your healing.
When Will My Stitches Be Removed?
In most cases, Dr. Passaretti will remove your stitches in one week to 10 days.
When Will I See Final Results?
Immediately after your neck lift, the area may be swollen. However, after inflammation subsides within the first week, you should begin to notice the initial results of your treatment. Final results will typically be apparent in about six months.
