Typically, the effects of hyaluronic acid-based fillers can last up to a year. Most patients usually require one treatment per year. However, some patients may require a couple of treatments to ensure a lasting result.

You can expect some degree of swelling or puffiness, minor bruising may also occur. Swelling tends to subside within a few days after treatment, and bruising can take longer.

The procedure is absolutely safe if performed by an expert who has an in-depth knowledge of facial anatomy. However, there are a few risks involved because of the contours of the face and also because the skin around the eyes is the most delicate and sensitive.

If the filler is injected incorrectly, or too superficially, it can give the area under the eye a blue discoloration, also known as the Tyndall effect, or it could give you chronic puffy eyes. If this happens, then the fillers easily are dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase.
